In a basketball culture where fancy drills and colorful cones grab clicks on social media. MBA focuses on teaching concepts that are applicable and easily implemented into game and training settings. In short, we give you the tools to be productive and successful in a game both mentally and physically.
Basic fundamentals are the base to every good basketball player. Yes, athleticism and raw talent matter, but no great player has ever reached their potential without proper shooting technique or footwork. The best shooters in the world are often times average athletes, but they are masters of the fundamentals. The all-time greats have both.
There are 3 premiums in any basketball game. If a player can produce in at these
3 things then they will be able to not only play, but be productive in a game.
We focus on teaching the fundamentals of these 3 concepts to ensure that your player
has the best chance to advance his game and reach his goals.
limiting turnovers for yourself and others by making smart decisions and protecting each possession
your position and helpside by staying disciplined, communicating, and providing timely help
Developing consistent, repeatable shooting mechanics that translate under pressure
The most common mistake of the players is a lack of focus and maintenance on the fundamentals of both offense and defense. Offensively: players that are productive in games in practice generally are consistently working on proper shooting technique, two foot stops and pivots. While euro steps and one footed plays are great in transition they can lead to turnovers and broken plays in the half court. The game is speeding up the majority of quality basketball games is still played in the half court. Shooting and taking care of the ball off two feet is at an all time.
Defensively there are a lot of pressures and mix up zones that are easier to teach the youth, but understanding man fundamentals and being able to guard your position is always going to be most important foundation to build a defense off of. Having a great sense of man principles is incredibly helpful no matter what defense you are playing.
